Disclosed are a control method and apparatus for a two-wheeled balanced vehicle, which are used in a two-wheeled balanced vehicle comprising two parallel wheels (110, 120) and a turning control assembly (130), and fall within the field of automatic control. The method comprises: recognising the type of obstacle in front of any vehicle wheel, and if the type of obstacle is an impassable obstacle, controlling a two-wheeled balanced vehicle to slow down, and locking a turning control assembly (130). The apparatus comprises: recognition modules (710, 810) which are configured to recognise the type of obstacle in front of any vehicle wheel; control modules (720, 820) which are configured, when the recognition modules (710, 810) recognise that the type of obstacle is an impassable obstacle, to control a two-wheeled balanced vehicle to slow down, and to lock a turning control assembly (130). The method and apparatus solve the problem that once there is an impassable obstacle in front of one vehicle wheel of a two-wheeled balanced vehicle, this vehicle wheel is blocked or stuck, and the other vehicle wheel continues to proceed, generating a centrifugal movement, which causes a driver to fall, and achieve the effect of avoiding as far as possible a user falling due to one vehicle wheel being stuck in the process of using the two-wheeled balanced vehicle.
