Abstract:
In order to reduce the load on a controller that responds to transmission requests for control information from a switch, the controller is provided with a control information management unit, a transmission request storage unit, and a request processing unit. The control information management unit contains match conditions, and manages control information for processing packets that conform to the match conditions. The transmission request storage unit stores unprocessed transmission requests for control information, from among transmission requests from a switch under control for control information for processing packets received by said switch. The request processing unit: selects, from among the control information managed by the control information management unit, control information having a broad match condition; selects, from among the unprocessed transmission requests for control information stored in the transmission request storage unit, a transmission request for unprocessed control information in which a default value that is checked against the match condition conforms to the control information having a broad match condition; and responds to the switch that was the source of the unprocessed transmission request for control information with the control information having the broad match condition.
