Abstract:
A converter device of the present invention is characterized by being provided with: a rectifying circuit that performs full-wave rectification with an input of alternating current power; a boosting circuit that boosts an output voltage of the rectifying circuit; a smoothing capacitor, which smoothes an output voltage of the boosting circuit, and outputs the voltage to a load; and a control unit that controls the boosting circuit. The converter device is also characterized in that: the boosting circuit is provided with a plurality of boosting units, each of which has a reactor, a switching element, and a reverse blocking diode; and the control unit turns on at least one switching element in the boosting units for a predetermined time, thereby determining whether there is a failure of the boosting units.
