Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cooking device and a control method thereof and, more specifically, to a technique for reducing stress caused by current flowing through a diode included in a cooking device. A cooking device according to an embodiment comprises: a coil on which a container is placed and a magnetic field is formed according to application of current; a first switch and a second switch which change the direction of current flowing through the coil; a first diode connected in parallel to the first switch, or a second diode connected in parallel to the second switch; and a control unit for alternately controlling a turn-on operation of the first switch and the second switch, and when a maximum value of current flowing through the first diode or a maximum value of current flowing through the second diode exceeds a predetermined value, increasing an operation frequency for turning on the first switch and the second switch, so as to limit the maximum value of the current flowing through the first diode or the second diode to the predetermined value or lower.
