Abstract:
A corner joint structure for a bridge pier is constructed from adjacent thick steel
plates (10a, 10b), and beveled sections (22) are provided at an end face (20) of
one (10a) of the adjacent plates. A root (24) at the beveled sections is subjected
to laser welding, and divergent sections (26, 28) are subjected to arc welding
to place welding metal (40) in the divergent sections.
