Abstract:

A pair of secondary relief surfaces (4b) is formed at a top angle portion (C) of an insert body (1) having a substantially polygonal plate-like shape. A top relief surface (4c) of the top angle portion is formed between the secondary relief surfaces (4b), and the top relief surface (4c) smoothly tangentially connects to the secondary relief surfaces (4b) and is formed in the shape of a substantially protruding curved surface protruding outward. In a view from the direction of the bisector line (B) of the top angle portion (C), the top relief surface (4c) of the top angle portion extends across the entire thickness of the insert body (1), and the boundary lines (6a) between the top relief surface (4c) of the top angle portion and a pair of secondary cutting edges (5b) are parallel to each other. When viewed in the direction facing a rake surface (2), a curved ridge (5c) formed at the intersection ridge section between the top relief surface (4c) of the top angle portion and the rake surface (2), and a curved ridge formed at the intersection ridge section between the top relief surface (4c) of the top angle portion and a seating surface (3) have substantially the same shape.
