Abstract:

The present invention provides a cutting insert (1) that comprises: a first end face (2); a second end face (3) on the opposite side from the first end face; perimeter side faces (4) that connect the first end face and the second end face; cutting edges (6), each extending along the intersecting ridge of the first end face and a respective perimeter side face; lands (20), each formed on the first end face so as to extend along a respective cutting edge; and at least one groove (18) formed on each perimeter side face. Each groove forms an opening on the first end face and is formed so as to divide the respective cutting edge into a plurality of sections. Each land is formed so that, when viewing the cutting insert from a direction facing the first end face, the width of the part of the land adjacent to an end face region (S) of the groove is larger than the width of the land at a location away from the groove.
