Abstract:
A cutting insert of an aspect of the present invention has a polygonal columnar shape, and characterized by having an upper surface, a lower surface, and side surfaces located between the upper surface and the lower surface, and in that a cutting edge is formed along an intersection line between the upper surface and the side surfaces, the upper surface has a convex-shaped main portion having flat upper end surfaces, a first protruding portion protruding from the main portion toward a corner of the upper surface, a second protruding portion protruding from the first protruding portion toward the corner, and a pair of third protruding portions each protruding from the first protruding portion toward the peripheral edge of the upper surface so as to sandwich a region between the leading end of the first protruding portion and the corner therebetween, and in a portion located on the bisector of the corner when viewed from above, the surface of the first protruding portion is a concave curved surface-shaped inclined surface, and the surface of the second protruding portion is a plane inclined surface.
