Abstract:
The purpose of this invention is to make it possible to efficiently compress point cloud data output from a distance measurement sensor. The data compression device according to this invention comprises: a data acquisition unit (121) for acquiring, from a distance measurement sensor (11), point cloud data including a plurality of pairs that each consist of a direction and distance; a data conversion unit (122) for converting the plurality of direction and distance pairs into a plurality of color signals; an image generation unit (123) for generating a bitmap image by mapping the plurality of color signals onto a two-dimensional data structure according to the directions; and an image compression unit (124) for applying prescribed image compression to the bitmap image.
