Abstract:
The present technology relates to a data processing device, a data processing method and a program which make it possible to appropriately play back a data stream which has been multiplexed by individually packetizing data to be played back and control information to be used in the playback of the data. In the present invention, a transmission device is provided with a multiplexing unit which generates a data stream by individually multiplexing a data packet which includes playback data, which is the data to be played back, and a control information packet which includes control information to be used in the playback of the playback data. The multiplexing unit multiplexes a first packet, which is a control information packet that includes control information corresponding to a prescribed processing unit of the playback data, after a position that is a prescribed first number preceding a second packet, which is a data packet that includes the processing unit, from among multiplexable positions at which a control information packet can be multiplexed, in the data stream. The present technology is applicable to a broadcast signal transmission device, for example.
