Abstract:
The present technology relates to a transmission device, a transmission method and a program which make it possible to quickly and assuredly play back data, in a device which receives a data stream which has been multiplexed by individually packetizing data to be played back and control information to be used in the playback of the data. The transmission device is provided with: a multiplexing unit which generates a data stream by individually multiplexing a data packet which includes playback data, which is the data to be played back, and a control information packet which includes control information to be used in the playback of the playback data; and a transmission unit which transmits the data stream. The multiplexing unit multiplexes a control information packet, which includes control information corresponding to a prescribed processing unit of the playback data, before a data packet which includes the processing unit. The present technology is applicable to a broadcast signal transmission device, for example.
