Abstract:
A database system pertaining to an embodiment is equipped with multiple nodes for storing a database and a management device. The management device has a first assigning unit and a second assigning unit. In response to a change in the states of the multiple nodes, the first assigning unit assigns a first node for storing a data set and accepting an access request to the data set and a second node as a backup node and instructs the multiple nodes to perform operations in accordance with the assignment. In accordance with the states of the multiple nodes and a change in the assignment state of the first node and second node, the second assigning unit assigns a third node as a candidate for the first node and instructs each of the multiple nodes to prepare to cause the third node to operate as the first node. Each node transmits to the third node a snapshot that is captured of the data set in the first node at a first time point and a log of operations that have been performed in response to access requests to the data set in the first node that after the first time point.
