Abstract:
In an electronic still camera wherein the residual capacity of a battery is detected by comparing the voltage of a battery (2) with a reference value in a high-load state, i.e. while an LCD monitor (21) is actuated and the power supply to the main body is forcibly brought to a turned-off state when the voltage of the battery becomes lower than a reference value (R3), if the power supply is again turned on without exchanging the battery, an inconvenience such that the value of residual capacity of the battery detected no longer corresponds with that detected before the power supply had been turned off, is observed due to the fact that the LCD monitor (21), which is in a non-actuated state, creates a low-load state at the moment the power supply is turned on. As a counter measure to this inconvenience, the present invention provides a device for detecting the residual capacity of a battery which is constituted in such a manner that the reference value (R3) is reset by making the reference value (R3) larger by a prescribed value (a) corresponding to the voltage rise of the battery (2).
