Abstract:
This engine body has a cylinder wherein the geometric compression ratio has been set to at least 15, and is supplied with a fuel containing at least gasoline. When the operating state of the engine body is in a high load region, in a low speed region, a controller (PCM10) drives a fuel injection valve (an injector) (67) in such a manner as to perform fuel injection at a timing in a retarded period from the latter stage of a compression stroke to the initial stage of an expansion stroke, and in a high speed region, the controller (PCM10) drives the fuel injection valve in such a manner as to perform fuel injection in an intake stroke period until an intake valve (21) closes.
