Abstract:
Disclosed is a device and method for tracing non-rigid objects using shapes and feature information. A background-generating unit generates a background image on the basis of continuously-inputted image frames and updates the background image according to whether or not a movement of an object is detected from the image frames. A motion-detecting unit outputs, as a detection result of a movement area, a rectangle that includes blocks having a difference between the background image and an input image frame. A shape-control-point-extracting unit extracts a shape control point (SCP) from the detected movement area. An object-tracing unit traces an object through a block-based matching algorithm on the basis of the extracted SCP according to whether or not objects are combined, or traces an object through a centroid-based block-matching algorithm or a periodic-update-based block-matching algorithm.
