Title:
DEVICE FOR PRODUCING A GASEOUS MIXTURE CONSISTING OF HYDROGEN AND OXYGEN BY ELECTROLYSIS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/033030
Kind Code:
A9
Abstract:
Improvement of a device for producing a gaseous mixture consisting of hydrogen and oxygen in a water electrolysis cell by choosing the nature and form of the materials constituting the electrodes and by means of the characteristics of the electric current supplying them. The materials of the electrodes are chosen with close galvanic potentials, preferably magnetic ferritic 430 stainless steel constituting the anode, of which the galvanic potential is 0.5, and non-magnetic austenitic 316L or 304L stainless steel of which the galvanic potential is 0.4. These materials are immersed in a container made from electrically insulating material filled with a dielectric liquid consisting of water and a specific additive such that they do not short circuit, and are powered with direct current at a low voltage of 12, 24 or 48 volts generated by an electronic circuit delivering a square signal with a microwave frequency lower than 30 Gigahertz. The method and device according to the invention are intended, in particular, for the production of gaseous hydrogen and oxygen in order to supply heat engines, boiler burners and other fossil fuel consumers, reducing the fuel consumption and limiting the production of unburnt matter and pollutants.
