Title:
DEVICE FOR THE TRANSFER OF HEAT BETWEEN DIFFERENT POLLUTED FLUID MEDIA
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1983/002315
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The device is characterized in that it is made in the shape of two parallel coils situated side by side consisting of several channels (1-10) where the channels of one coil (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) are arranged to the cold medium to be heated, and the channels of the other coil (2, 4, 6, 8, 10) are arranged to the warm medium, from which the heat is to be obtained and the media are arranged to flow counter-current in relation to each other and so that the channels, to shape the coils, are made of parallel straight parts which in their ends are connected to half-circle-shaped-parts and furnished with doors for controlling and cleaning all channels simultaneously.

Description:
Device for the transfer of heat between differe polluted fluid media

This invention relates to a device for the tran fer of heat between different polluted fluid media.

It is earlier known that it is possible to use heat exchangers of different kind, e.g. spiral-heat-ex¬ changers to transfer heat between two media. The spiral- heat-exchangers consist of two parallel channels with rectangular cross section winded in spiral form. The cold medium to be heated flows in one channel and the warm medium from which the heat is to be obtained flows counte current in the other channel.

To get a good heat transfer the media velocities must be high. For that reason the cross section area ough to be small. The channels are in most cases narrow, a few mm. When the polluted liquids content big particles the channels must be wider and, to keep the high velocities, the height must be lower.

The spiral-heat-exchanger has for production reasons limited outer diameter, so the heat transfer area pr unit will be small.

The device according to the invention is rather similar to the spiral-heat-exchanger but can get a big he transfer area pr unit. As a principle the spiral-heat-ex¬ changer has been cut into two halves and straight paralle channels have been placed between the half-circle-channels ( half spirals) shaping two parallel coils with alternatin ly straights and half circles (half spirals).

The invention will now be described referring to the attached drawing, figure 1 being a horizontal section of the device and figure 2 a transverse vertical section. The device consists of a great number of parallel channel 1—10 situated side by side. The straight channels 1-10 ar at their ends connected to half-circle-shaped-channels shaping two coils running side by side.

The cold medium A, to be heated, is fed at 11 an after passing a number of turns taken out at 12, while th warm medium B, from which the heat is to be obtained, is fed at 13 and after passing a number of terms counter- current it is taken out at 14. In other words the odd- numbered channels 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 contain the cold mediu and even-numbered channels 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 contain the warm medium. Doors 15 have been installed for controlling and eventual cleaning of all channels simultanously.

The invention is naturally not confied to this particular design, but can obviously be varied within the frame-work of the idea behind the invention.
