Abstract:
Provided is a dilator capable of easily expanding an orifice formed in a wall of the digestive canal or the like. A dilator 30 includes: a hollow shaft 31 having a tip, the outer diameter of which is smaller than the outer diameter of a base end thereof; and a connector 9 provided at the base end of the shaft 31. Spiral protrusions 32 protruding outward are provided on an outer peripheral surface 31B of the shaft 31. The spiral protrusions 32 adjacent to one another have gaps therebetween along the axis A of the shaft 31. The shaft 31 has a first position P5 and a second position P6, which is located closer to the tip than the first position P5 is, and the outer diameter of which is smaller than the outer diameter at the first position P5, along the axis. The inclination angle of the spiral protrusion 32 with respect to the axis A at the second position P6 is smaller than that at the first position P5.
