Abstract:
Provided is a lighting apparatus capable of further suppressing flickering of light to be outputted from a discharge lamp compared with conventional cases.
This discharge lamp lighting apparatus is provided with: a power supply unit for supplying an alternating current to a discharge lamp; a power control unit for outputting, to the power supply unit, signals relating to a control power value; and a pulse generating unit for outputting pulsed waves to the power supply unit. The pulse generating unit repeats a cycle of outputting first pulsed waves for a first period, then, outputting second pulsed waves for a second period that is shorter than the first period, said second pulsed waves having a frequency lower than that of the first pulsed waves. The power control unit controls to have the control power value in the first period and the control power value in the second period different from each other such that an average light intensity difference or an average power difference of the discharge lamp between the first period and the second period is reduced compared with the cases where the same control power value is set for both the first period and the second period.
