Abstract:
A system and a method for disinfecting and cleaning ophthalmic devices such as contact lenses is provided. The system involves the use of an active microbicidal solution generated just prior to use by the reaction of an iodide salt with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a peroxidase. Such a system is particularly useful for disinfecting contact lenses.
