Abstract:

[Problem] The present invention addresses the problem of providing a dispersion of inorganic oxide particles, the dispersion exhibiting high dispersion stability at high temperatures with a high salt content. [Solution] The present invention provides a dispersion which contains, as a dispersoid, silane-bonded inorganic oxide particles that are surface modified with a hydrolyzable silane, while using a liquid medium as a dispersion medium. The dispersion medium contains a hydrolysis product of the hydrolyzable silane; the ratio (number of moles of silicon atoms in hydrolysis product of hydrolyzable silane in dispersion medium)/(number of moles of silicon atoms in silane bonded to inorganic oxide particle surfaces) is 0.2 to 30; and with respect to silica particles in the dispersion, Q4 structures, in each of which the number of bridging oxygen atoms between silicon atoms is 4/2 per one silicon atom, are increased as determined by Si-NMR observation in comparison to those before the surface modification with silane. The inorganic oxide is composed of at least one inorganic oxide that is selected from the group consisting of silica, alumina, tin oxide, zirconium oxide, titanium oxide and antimony oxide, the at least one inorganic oxide having an average particle diameter of 5 nm to 100 nm. The present invention uses a single metal oxide, a composite metal oxide or a composite oxide that has a core-shell structure.
