Abstract:
Provided are a display device and the like capable of reducing current consumption more effectively than the prior art. A smart phone (10) is equipped with: an area detection unit (42) that detects the size of an image displayed on a display unit (60); an update frequency setting unit (44a) that, in accordance with the size (the area (4a)) of the image as detected by the area detection unit (42), sets an update frequency (2), which is the frequency with which the display of the image on the display unit (60) is updated; and an image update unit (60) that updates the display of the image by switching the display on the display unit (60) with the update frequency (2) that has been set by the update frequency setting unit (44a).
