Abstract:
The present invention achieves lower power consumption than in the prior art while suppressing a decrease in the life of an element without causing a display defect in a display device that adopts time division driving. When a display mode is a high-resolution mode, image display is performed by time division driving. When the display mode is a low-resolution mode, image display is performed by, with j pixel circuits disposed continuously in a direction in which a scan signal line extends as one group, bringing only one organic EL element in each of the pixel circuits into a light emitting state during a frame period, and bringing organic EL elements having different light emission colors from each other in the j pixel circuits included in each group into the light emitting state during the frame period. A plurality of pixel circuits in a display unit are configured such that the intervals between a plurality of organic EL elements that are brought into the light emitting state during the frame period in the low-resolution mode become equal in the direction in which the scan signal line extends.
