Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a display device which, when transforming three primary colors of input to four primary colors of output and displaying the same, is capable of performing accurate color reproduction using a simple method. A display device is provided with a color transformation unit (12) which transforms 3 RGB primary colors of an input video image signal into a tri-stimulus value of an XYZ color system, and transforms the transformed tri-stimulus value to 4 primary colors of an output video image signal. The color transformation unit (12) fixes at least one color component among any of the 4 primary colors of the output video image signal, obtains a tri-stimulus value difference which is a difference between the tri-stimulus value of the 3 RGB primary colors of the input video image signal and the tri-stimulus value of the fixed color component, and transforms the obtained tri-stimulus value difference by way of a predefined inverse matrix to the three color components other than the fixed color component.
