Abstract:
This display device is provided with an image display panel which has an image display surface on which display is controlled on the basis of an input image signal; a light source unit (a light source device) which has multiple light sources disposed corresponding to the image display surface, which is partitioned into multiple subregions, and which illuminates the image display surface; and a signal processing unit which calculates the lighting amount of the light sources for each of the multiple subregions. The signal processing unit calculates a lighting amount for each subregion on the basis of the input image signal, sets one of the subregions as a lighting amount correction-target subregion, and corrects the lighting amount in the correction-target subregion if the lighting amount of an adjacent subregion positioned around said correction-target subregion is less than or equal to a prescribed value.
