Abstract:
[Problem] To effectively prevent damage to a drive device and/or a ring gear that would result from excessive force being generated at an engagement part of the drive device and the ring gear. [Solution] A drive device 10 that comprises: a drive device main body 20 that is arranged on one structure of a mobile portion of a windmill 101 and has a drive gear 24a that engages a ring gear 107 that is arranged on another structure of the mobile portion of the windmill 101; and an abnormality detection part 80 that monitors the force that is generated between the ring gear and the drive gear and/or the state of the drive device main body. When the abnormality detection part has detected an abnormality, output from the drive gear of the drive device main body to the ring gear is suspended.
