Abstract:
Provided is a driving assistance device that makes it possible to turn right or left at an intersection without losing an opportunity to make the right or left turn, while ensuring safety by constantly viewing the oncoming lane from the time of entry into the intersection until execution of the right or left turn begins. A following vehicle D behind the host vehicle C is detected with a rear side sensor, the host vehicle C stands by at a standby position Cb at which a determination can be made regarding whether a right/left turn standby oncoming vehicle E is able to make a right or left turn, and when it is determined that the right/left turn standby oncoming vehicle E is traversing the intersection and making a right or left turn, and the host vehicle C is able to traverse the intersection and make a right or left turn, the right or left turn of the host vehicle C begins.
