This driving assistance system calculates information about a tag around a target vehicle by using information about the tag acquired by a sensor disposed at a location other than on the target vehicle, and the location information about the target vehicle, and provides a warning, location information, or ranging information to an automatic traveling control unit or a driver of the target vehicle. The system is provided with: a roadside information processing unit disposed on a roadside; a vehicle control unit disposed in the target vehicle; and a first location detection unit which is disposed on a target vehicle side or the roadside and detects the location of the target vehicle. The roadside information processing unit or the vehicle control unit calculates vehicle periphery information pertaining to the tag around the target vehicle by using the information about the tag acquired by the sensor and the location of the target vehicle, which is detected by the first location detection unit. The roadside information processing unit transmits, to the target vehicle, at least one among the information about the tag and the vehicle periphery information.
