Abstract:
The present invention relates to dual stimuli-sensitive drug-releasing extracellular vesicles for chemo-sonodynamic therapy and, more specifically, to extracellular vesicles sensitive to both ultrasounds and pH, with a sonosensitizer, an anticancer agent (antitumoral agent), and sodium hydrogen carbonate loaded thereinto. In addition to exhibiting the effect of killing cancer cells by producing ROS in response to sonication, the dual stimulus-sensitive, drug-releasing extracellular vesicles for chemo-sonodynamic therapy according to the present invention can effectively release the anticancer agent as the extracellular vesicles are ruptured specifically for cancer tissues, which establish a weak acid condition, whereby, together with the cavitation effect induced by ultrasound, the extracellular vesicles can advantageously maximize the chemo-sonodynamic therapeutic effect.
