Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an eggshell type platinum-loaded alumina catalyst which has excellent performance in terms of the catalyst service life. [Solution] An eggshell type platinum-loaded alumina catalyst according to the present invention comprises: an alumina carrier; and platinum and one or more second components that are selected from the group consisting of vanadium, chromium, molybdenum and phosphorus, said platinum and second components being supported by the alumina carrier by being dispersed in the shell of the alumina carrier. It is preferable that the content of the platinum is from 0.05 to 5.0 wt% in terms of elemental platinum. It is preferable that respective contents of the second components are from 0.1 to 5.0 wt% in terms of respective elements. It is preferable that the alumina carrier has a surface area of 150 m2/g or more, a pore volume of 0.40 cm3/g or more and an average pore diameter of from 40 to 300 Å, with the proportion of the pores having a diameter within the range of from the average pore diameter minus 30 Å to the average pore diameter plus 30 Å in the total pore volume being 60% or more.
