[Problem] To provide a uniform platinum-supported alumina catalyst that exhibits an excellent performance with regard to catalyst life. [Solution] A uniform platinum-supported alumina catalyst has an alumina support, sulfur or a sulfur compound dispersed over the entire cross section of the alumina support, platinum supported dispersed over the entire cross section of the alumina support, and one or two or more alkali metals selected from the group consisting of sodium, potassium, and calcium. The platinum content is preferably 0.05-5.0 wt% as the element platinum. The content of the sulfur or sulfur compound is preferably 0.15-5.0 wt% as the element sulfur. The content of the alkali metal is preferably 0.1-5.0 wt% as the alkali metal element.
