Abstract:
An electric dust collector (1) has an electric charge unit (2) in which charged electrode plates (4) and grounded electrode plates (5) are alternately disposed in parallel. Either of the charged electrode plates (4) or the grounded electrode plates (5) are provided with bristle-like projections (8), and the other have flat plate parts (10) provided in portions opposing the bristle-like projections (8). Electric discharge areas are formed by the bristle-like projections (8) and the flat plate parts (10), a difference in potential is generated between the charged electrode plates (4) and the grounded electrode plates (5), and lines of electric force are generated in the air from the tips of the bristle-like projections (8), causing electric discharge. The electrode plates provided with the bristle-like projections (8) have a chrome content of 10% or more and a carbon content of 0.03% or less, and the electric discharge from the bristle-like projections (8) causes the temperature at the tips of the bristle-like projections (8) to be 600°C or more.
