Provided is an electric parking brake device in which the operation and release of a parking brake is switched according to the operation of an electric actuator. A control unit (C) controls the operation of the electric actuator (38) while having a vehicle state determination unit (66) that determines a vehicle state on the basis of a detection value from a wheel speed detection means (64). When the control unit (C) is returning the electric actuator (38) to an operable state after a temporary operation interruption of the electric actuator (38) has occurred, if the control unit (C) has determined that the operation interruption occurred during application control of the parking brake, the control unit (C) resumes application control of the parking brake when the determination result of the vehicle state determination unit (66) at the time of the return thereof was obtained while the vehicle was stopped, and the control unit (C) stops the resumption of application control of the parking brake when the determination result of the vehicle state determination unit (66) at the time of the return thereof was obtained while the vehicle was traveling. Through this, appropriate control can be implemented according to the vehicle state when returning the electric actuator to an operable state after a temporary operation interruption thereof.
