Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an electric power steering device that comprises three rotation angle detection systems, detects abnormalities therein, and is capable, in the event of an abnormality in any of the rotation angle detection systems, of instantly identifying the abnormal system and performing highly reliable angle detection using signals from the remaining normal rotation angle detection systems in order to continue assist control. [Solution] An electric power steering device that is configured such that a current command value is calculated on the basis of at least a steering torque, PWM control of a brushless motor is performed by an inverter on the basis of the current command value, and current control is performed by detecting the rotation angle of the brushless motor in order to perform assist control of the steering system. The electric power steering device is provided with three rotation angle detection systems for detecting the rotation angle of the brushless motor and an angle diagnosis unit that compares the absolute values of the differences between the angles output from the three rotation angle detection systems with a threshold value to diagnose whether the rotation angle detection systems are normal or abnormal and perform processing accordingly. The electric power steering device continues assist control using the angle output from the systems diagnosed as being normal by the angle diagnosis unit.
