Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an electrode catalyst, a manufacturing method therefor, and a fuel cell all of which enable suppression of deterioration over time in catalyst action. The electrode catalyst contains: a mesoporous carbon carrier having pores; and catalyst metal particles supported in at least a portion of the pores. The ratio r/R of a mean particle diameter r of the catalyst metal particles to a most frequent pore diameter R of the pores is 0.01-0.6. The mean particle diameter r of the catalyst metal particles is 6 nm or less. The most frequent pore diameter R of the pores is preferably 2-50 nm.
