Title:
ELECTRODE CATALYST AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/068116
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This electrode catalyst is formed by carrying platinum on the surface of tin oxide particles. The platinum present is alloyed with tin, wherein the molar ratio between the platinum and tin in the alloy is 1:1. The tin oxide particles optimally contain at least one type of additive element selected from the group consisting of Ta, Nb, Sb, In, W, and V. The electrode catalyst is optimally produced by a method in which platinum fine particles are deposited on the surface of tin oxide particles, and then the tin oxide particles are subjected to heat treatment in a reducing atmosphere at a temperature of more than 300 °C but at most 500 °C to generate an alloy in which the molar ratio between platinum and tin is 1:1.
