An electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery, which comprises an electrode active material and a water-soluble polymer, wherein the water-soluble polymer is a copolymer containing 1 to 30 wt% of an aromatic vinyl monomer unit, 20 to 60 wt% of an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer unit and 0.1 to 5 wt% of a cross-linkable monomer unit.
