Abstract:

Provided is a steel material having excellent cold workability and achieving both of magnetic properties and machinability at high levels. An electromagnetic soft iron bar steel that is the steel material has a component composition comprising, in % by mass, less than 0.02% of C, less than 0.023% of Si, 0.01% to 0.50% inclusive of Mn, 0.002% to 0.020% inclusive of P, more than 0.02% and 0.050% or less of S, more than 0.010% and 0.050% or less of Al, 0.0010% to 0.0100% inclusive of N, and 0.0003% to 0.0065% inclusive of B, with the remainder comprising iron and unavoidable impurities.
