Abstract:
An embodiment disclosed herein relates to an electronic device and a method for supporting wireless charging using a parallel switching structure. The electronic device may comprise: a battery; a wireless charging coil that includes a first coil and a second coil connected in parallel with the first coil; a wireless charging IC electrically connected to the wireless charging coil; a first switch for switching the parallel connection between the second coil and the first coil; and a processor. The processor may be configured to: identify the type of an external device by communicating with the external device in a designated mode; transmit a first command, requesting the transmission of designated first power corresponding to fast charging, to the external device and close the first switch when the external device supports fast charging; and transmit a second command, requesting the transmission of designated second power corresponding to general charging, to the external device and open the first switch when the external device does not support fast charging.
