Provided is an electronic distance measuring instrument. The electronic distance measuring instrument comprises a distance measuring unit (201) and a pair of support arms (202) provided on two sides of the distance measuring unit, wherein the distance measuring unit is connected to the support arms by a cross shaft (203) in a horizontal direction and rotates along the cross shaft, a mounting hole is provided on the face, facing the distance measuring unit, of a shell (204) of the support arm, the cross shaft extends into the mounting hole and is connected to a bearing (205) in the shell, a bearing protrudes out of the shell from the mounting hole, and a boss (206) encircling the circumference of the cross shaft is formed between the support arm and the distance measuring unit; a V-shaped sealing ring (207) comprising a first lateral wall (2071) and a second lateral wall (2072), wherein the first lateral wall is mounted on the boss, and the second lateral wall is in close contact with a smooth lateral face, facing the support arm, of the distance measuring unit; and an O-shaped sealing ring (208) provided between the mounting hole and the bearing to seal a gap between the mounting hole and the bearing, thus achieving a good waterproof effect and protecting the instrument from damage from water leaking in.
