Abstract:
This electrophotographic photoreceptor is provided with a conductive substrate and a surface coating layer. The surface coating layer contains a negatively charged photoconductive layer, an upper charge injection blocking layer which is positioned outside of the photoconductive layer, and a surface protective layer which is positioned outside of the upper charge injection blocking layer. The upper charge injection blocking layer contains amorphous silicon, which is the main component, boron (B), which is a dopant, and the element nitrogen (N) and/or oxygen (O). Further, the upper charge injection blocking layer has a first region A in the center in the layer thickness direction thereof, and has second regions B-1, B-2 at both ends in the layer thickness direction, and, regarding the in-layer concentrations of each of the elements making up the dopant, the atomic concentrations in the first region A are higher than the atomic concentrations in the second regions B-1, B-2.
