The present invention configures the vertical pillars of a jamb so as to expose a control board attachment surface to a landing-side, makes the installation of a control board easy, and suppresses malfunctions of the control board caused by dust at a construction-side operation. A first vertical pillar (8) constituting a jamb (7) of the elevator comprises: a first bent part (8b) that is bent from one long-side edge part of a rectangular plate-shaped base (8a) to a front face-side; and a second bent part (8c) that is bent from the other long-side edge part of the base (8a) to a back face-side. The second bent part (8c) is provided facing a hoistway-side (1) and a second vertical pillar (9)-side, and the first bent part (8b) is fixed to a hoistway wall (3) and stands in an opening (5). A side-surface plate (16) is attached to the other long-side edge part on the front face of the base (8a) so as to extend from an upper end to a lower end. A control board (11) is attached to the front face of the base (8a), and is stored in a space formed by the first vertical pillar (8) and the side-surface plate (16). A lid (17) is attached to the first vertical pillar (8) to enable opening or closing of the space.
