Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to an encoding device, an encoding method, a decoding device, and a decoding method which make it possible to further improve image quality. By performing inter-prediction based on bi-directional optical flow (BDOF) using reference frames which precede and follow a current frame which is to be encoded, a prediction unit derives a prediction image of the current frame. At this time, the prediction unit performs BDOF calculations using fine adjustment motion vectors set along a u-axis and a v-axis, which respectively are at an approximately 45-degree direction with respect to an x-axis extending in the horizontal direction of the frame and a y-axis extending in the vertical direction thereof. The present technique is applicable, for example, to an encoding device which performs encoding using inter-prediction.
