An engine testing apparatus is provided with a storage unit for storing a control command value obtained when the rotation speed of a dynamometer is varied by the control command value in accordance with a change in the engine rotation speed of an actual vehicle in a reproduction period, in which the engine behavior of the actual vehicle is reproduced, without connecting the dynamometer to a trial engine. The engine testing apparatus is provided with an output unit that outputs the control command value stored in the storage unit to the dynamometer with reference to an engine output signal indicating the start of the reproduction period.
