Disclosed in embodiments of the present application are an event monitoring method and apparatus, a chip, and a computer storage medium. The method comprises: acquiring a target event signal; if the target event signal indicates that target events have been recognized, acquiring, from an IPFIX flow table, a count value corresponding to the target events; if the count value corresponding to the target events is less than a preset threshold, updating the count value, and saving the updated count value in the IPFIX flow table; and if the count value corresponding to the target events is greater than or equal to the preset threshold, generating a reporting event, and sending the reporting event and the count value to a central processing unit, wherein the reporting event is used for informing the central processing unit that the count overflow of the target events has occurred. In this way, in combination with the target event signal, the target events are counted by means of the IPFIX flow table, so that the monitoring and counting of microburst events and delay-based congestion events can be flexibly achieved, especially when the traffic is large, and occupation of network bandwidth can be avoided.
