An exercise assistance unit (101) comprises an exercise device (103) that a user uses to exercise, a pair of air blowing parts (first air blowing part (160L), second air blowing part (160R)), and a control part (170). The pair of air blowing parts (first air blowing part (160L), second air blowing part (160R)) blows airflows (first blow-off airflow (130L), second blow-off airflow (130R)) toward the user. The control part (170) acquires information relating to the heart rate of the user and, based on the acquired information relating to the heart rate, controls at least one of velocity, temperature, and humidity of the airflows (first blow-off airflow (130L), second blow-off airflow (130R)) that are blown from the pair of air blowing parts (first air blowing part (160L), second air blowing part (160R)) such that the heart rate of the user who is exercising using the exercise device (103) falls within a predetermined range corresponding to the exercise intensity intended by the user.
