Abstract:
An exhaust muffler comprising first and second pipes which penetrate through a casing or a partition wall partitioning the inside of the casing into a plurality of expansion chambers, and which are arranged with a downstream end of the first pipe coaxially facing an upstream end of the second pipe, wherein: the downstream end (55a) of the first pipe (55) and the upstream end (57a) of the second pipe (57) are spaced apart from each other in an axial direction; one end of a support member (75) having a circular cross section and having a diameter smaller than those of the first and second pipes (55, 57) is fixed to one of a first cover member (63) covering an opening part of the downstream end (55a) of the first pipe (55) and a second cover member (72) covering an opening part of the upstream end (57a) of the second pipe (57); and the other end of the support member (75) is slidably fitted into the other of the first and second cover members (63, 72). Thus, in connecting and supporting a pair of pipes with respect to one another, a restriction in the lengths of the pipes is less liable to arise, thus increasing the degree of freedom in design.
