Abstract:
A feedstock solution flow concentration system, which has a first step for causing counterflow or parallel flow of a feedstock solution flow a, which contains a solute and a solvent b, and a draw solution flow d via a forward osmosis membrane o and transferring the solvent b in the feedstock solution flow a to the draw solution flow d to obtain a concentrated feedstock solution flow c, which is the feedstock solution flow that has been concentrated, and a diluted draw solution flow e, which is the draw solution flow that has been diluted, wherein: the draw solution flow d contains an inducing substance Xm, a common solute Xn, and a solvent b; the solvents b in the feedstock solution flow a and the draw solution flow d both contain water; the common solute Xn is a solute that the feedstock solution flow a and the draw solution flow d have in common and is the same solute as at least one kind of solute contained in the feedstock solution flow a; and the concentration of the common solute Xn in the draw solution flow d is 1% to less than 100% of the concentration of the common solute Xn in the feedstock solution flow a.
