Abstract:
Provided is a method of controlling a storage system, wherein, upon expanding storage capacity of a file server using an online storage service, upper-limit restriction in file sizes that is a restriction that exists in online storage services can be dissolved, and communication cost can be reduced. The upper-limit restriction in file sizes can be avoided, by dividing files into fixed-length block files and storing/controlling the files therewith, in a kernel module upon which logical volumes of an online storage service is mounted. Further, when a read/write request is addressed to a mounted file system, optimization in communication and reduction in communication cost are achieved by down loading only the necessary file blocks from the online storage service using the offset value and size information, and using those file blocks.
