Abstract:
Provided are: a liquid crystal display device which has achieved a good balance between wide color reproduction area and high luminance; and a filter and a backlight unit, which are used in this liquid crystal display device. According to the present invention, a filter, and a backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device, each of which uses this filter are configured such that: the filter contains at least one dye and at least one specific binder; the absorption of the filter has an absorption peak within the wavelength range of from 560 nm to 620 nm (inclusive); and the difference between two wavelengths at which 10% of the absorbance at the absorption peak is given is 70 nm or less.
